NintendoLogic
I thought the pre-taped Owen tributes were sincere (yes, even HHH's). The in-ring ones, however ("If you're not down with Owen Hart, I got two words for ya!"), were cringeworthy.
cm funk
So how long until "this is not a part of tonight's entertainment" is worked into an angle, the same way they did it with the referees throwing up the X sign? As soon as Vince Russo gets the pen...

jdw
She's done this before: http://www.tmz.com/2012/10/08/qvc-host-cas...elevision-video Bottom video. It appears that they're aware of her fainting condition from the past history. Is it classless for them not to go to a break? Of course. Is it the same as someone having a heart attack on live tv and potentially dying? No. John
KrisZ
For a Lawler update this pic is from his Halloween party last night. Superman indeed
Matt D
His blading scars kind of make the imprint of Superman's curly hair thing if you squint.
Tim Evans
I'm sure people are gonna hate tonight's angle. It was pretty bad but if everyone wants the Attitude era back, that's what you get. Paul does a better fake heart attack than Fritz and Flair though. PeteF3
If Jerry Jarrett or Eddie Marlin had suffered a heart attack at any time from around 1983 to 1997, you know Lawler's second--maybe first--thought would be, "How can we make some money off of this?" Bix
Quite the night for USA Network to go out for everyone in the hotel. I haven't seen the angle yet, but it's Lawler, if he had any issues he'd quit. From what I've read it doesn't sound that bad. The video of the CPR & defibrillation, though...how was that remotely fucking necessary?
NintendoLogic
I didn't think it was that bad myself, but it should be noted that Lawler had no problem with using his mother's death in a wrestling angle despite acknowledging that his mother probably wouldn't have appreciated it. Amusingly, he was apparently genuinely offended when Jimmy Hart compared him to a thoroughbred that had to be put down after he broke his leg. PeteF3
Numerous people also cut promos on his deceased father. "OOOOH YEAH, LAWLER--THINK OF YOUR DAD, MAN, BEIN' DEAD."
Johnny Sorrow
The video of the CPR & defibrillation, though...how was that remotely fucking necessary?Exactly. That's what had me going "what the fuck?", not two heels heeling on Lawler in a segment he probably suggested.
rovert
So the Heyman heart attack is essentially sowing the seeds for a Lawler return to the ring?
El-P
Ah, pro-wrestling. Such a classy business, turning everything into an angle. So, to the people who have watched it, is this the most disgusting promotionnal tactic award of the year ?
Dylan Waco
Ah, pro-wrestling. Such a classy business, turning everything into an angle. So, to the people who have watched it, is this the most disgusting promotionnal tactic award of the year ? It will win but it shouldn't. Had they spent the week hyping it up with pics of the Defib/snoring dub bit maybe. As it was they used one segment to "hype" another on the show. Not enough long term and not calculated enough for me even if it was tasteless. I'll be voting for Balls/New Jack "feud" which looks to have been a bizarre worked shoot based around blatant racism that saw a guy get savagely between down by a machete wielding lunatic all so Feinstein - who exacerbated the whole thing deliberately - could make a couple bucks and both guys could get the "shoot tape booking" they need to support their respective drug habits. Loss
I don't know about "most disgusting", but I still think "dumbest" was reinforcing the message that the past was better than the present by putting a part-time movie star over your biggest star that is carrying the company, on the biggest, most-watched show of all time. But hey, I'm in the minority.
goodhelmet
Yeah, watching the show, I was more offended by the film of dead Lawler than I was by the angle itself. The angle was more of an eye roller. The film was more WTF?

I haven't followed this either, but WTF ? Speaking about RF, booking Tammy Fytch just before she gets into rehab (which failed miserably) to get the "real" shoot interview that "wasn't exploitative" is pretty much up there too. rovert
Jerry Jarrett on Facebook - who has had heart scares himself: "I watched WWE last night. Jerry Lawler was returning after surviving a life threatening heart attack. I sat watching the television with a feeling of pride that they were honoring the return of such a great wrestler. I sat thinking, “now this is real class”. Just when I was appreciating the class WWE was showing, it ended suddendly with a juvenile cheap heat angle. I turned the television off and starting thinking about Linda McMahon’s hard work and great expense running for the Senate. It is exactly this kind of programming that prevented her from becoming a Senator. Wrestling should have some limits and boundaries. If you offend great portions of the audience, it is a bad angle." El-P
Holy shit. Pathetic. How low can you go ? I still have no idea what this is all about, but it is truly pathetic. New Jack is still a sociopath and Balls looks like a giant sewer rat indeed. So apparently they also did a new one just after she got out of rehab too Holy shit. Again ? After Youshoot where you learn she loves anal and want to make a sextape ? (oh shit, she does talk about her vagina her anal sex again...) Gotta love the "Coming next : In Prison with Tammy Sytch" comment. Seriously... (she's still way behind Chyna though, who just did a gangbang video with guys disguised as wrestlers, including John Cena and yes, Mean Gene. I'm not kidding and I don't have a link)
