I do think the WWE just stopped caring about giving Orton interesting things to do. They pushed him hard since 2003 and this is 2013. He never really got over the same way John Cena did. I think they are nowadays content with using him as a threat in the upper card, a guy who'll win a good amount of matches, but not necessarily be a franchise player anymore. Seems like the turning point was John Cena complaining to management to fire Orton after his last wellness strike, because ever since then, he's been in this spot.

Wait what? Cena requested that Orton should be fired?

After Orton failed his second drug test, Cena was telling the office that they shouldn't invest in him as a main eventer any longer and that he should be let go.

EDIT: Bruce Mitchell's view, one that Wade Keller disagrees with, is that Orton has been punished for suggesting unions.

I thought the deal with Cena and Orton is that when Orton got his second strike, a story came out about Cena thinking he should have been fired the last time he was in trouble, in 2006 or 07, when he was a massive headache for everyone. But now he's changed into a family man and blah blah.

I could be remembering that way wrong, but that is my recollection of that story.

I think that's right, actually.

Good morning!About to C the man, Doc. James Andrews... Things haven't been good since I stepped back in the ring, possibly Acl tear again!

In my opinion, Rey was officially done back in the summer of 2011 where he got shelved for a year. When he came back, he was still over and could seemingly still work but he's been getting nicked up far too often to believe he's ever going to get another significant run in the company. I would guess he'll be back but it's starting to become sad. His knees are totally shot and I'd almost rather him not even try and come back. He'd probably fuck his knees up again in two months.

When he came back last summer I thought it was the first time where you could really see he wasn't the same.

Rey should just move to Mexico and work Maestro matches with Negro Navarro and Solar, he could work another 30 years

If he goes back to Mexico I see him working more of the AAA style in AAA.

Any talk of Orton being permanent midcard material would evaporate if they turned him heel (which they would far in advance of a hypothetical match with the Rock) - we already know he can portray a realistic unhinged psychopath and he'd be a damn sight more credible heel than the shower of softies, moaners and bumblers that they've got now. Although sounds like it won't happen because of this Cena story. For all his great work for the Make A Wish kids, Cena seems a turd when it comes to other wrestlers. We already know the kind of things he said about Rocky in non-worked interviews with mainstream media, it seems to genuinely pain him to bestow any credit on Punk whatsoever on the Best In The World DVD, and now he does this to Orton, which after saying how much he liked Randy these days on Evolution Of A Predator not only makes him a turd but a disingenuous backstabber too.

As for Rey, he's fucked. The constant string of injuries is a result of him carrying far too much muscle mass for his frame for a number of years. Even when he first showed up in WWE he was larger than he had been in WcW.

Rey, 2000. Your little sister could beat him up, and she's 12.

It's obvious to me they have no intention of pushing Ziggler to the next level. Jobbing to Cena or Ryback clean is one thing, but to Miz's terrible Figure Four? Not that I'm on the Ziggler bandwagon anyway, I don't think he's a real top guy anyway.I think he's pretty much right where he belongs, just outside the main event.

Not to disagree with your main premise, but that was probably the best figure four Miz has done tonight.

Vince told Cena to say what he said about Rock. Cena insisted on stopping because he was taking too much heat for it.

I missed Raw, what did he say?

I was responding to the point about the original quote in whatever publication it was where Cena talked about Rock leaving. Nothing about tonight.

El Generico has debuted in NXT without the mask and is now going by his real name, Rami Sebei. I've seen a lot of the indie fans complaining about this, but I don't see it as that big of a deal. I don't think the El Generico gimmick seemed like something that WWE would be able to get behind anyways.

I'm guilty. Over the last few years I have considered Generico my favorite wrestler anywhere. I had hoped they would keep some version of the gimmick if for no other reason than to sell masks since Mysterio is about done, and Sin Cara is a bust. I really think kids could have gotten behind the goofy mask that does cool high flying shit, which would be perfect in there PG program.

Instead they went with that? Skinny guy with a ginger beard? Now he looks generic.

He's got no chance in hell with that look.

I don't think he ever had a chance to do anything in WWE except be a comedy gimmick.
