Reactions to the Honorable Mention List, Part 2

Ah fuck, my fourth soldier, Rogers was my #93.

I don't know why but I see it as a personal shortcoming every time one of my guys drops.

Tommy Rogers was, in my view, the 4th best pure tag worker in US history behind Arn, Eaton and Morton.

Dustin Rhodes.

Better than Stan Lane and Steve Keirn?

I'm thinking mainly of that hair match from '91 where she teamed with Bull against Jungle Jack. I think she blew every single move she tried in that match.

91 is too early.

Tommy Rogers was my #63. I'm a bit baffled by the drop he took honestly.

Yeah, I really do think so.

Stan Lane was part of 2 legit great teams, and he was good in both of them, but I think Rogers has better performances in a greater number of really high-end matches. And, just in terms of "input" as Grimmas likes to say, he's just a better wrestler than Lane.

Kerin, for me, I don't really see as a pure tag worker. I associate him with Florida, with being a guy like Dick Slater who was seen as being legit and who had those amatuer credentials etc. I realise a lot of people think of him later on in Memphis, as part of the Fabs, but I think there's more to Keirn's career than that. With him, like a lot of those late 70s / early 80s guys it's a footage deal. We do have more Florida than people might think, and Keirn is in a lot of it, but I haven't really come across super-highend matches from him, so I'm not seeing the output really. Although arguably Keirn was a better worker, just in terms of his skills, than either Rogers or Lane.

So yeah, I would put Rogers over both.

Add me to the list of people disappointed Rogers fell so early. Personally, I am not sure there is a huge gulf between Rogers and Morton in terms of babyface tag team specialists, but Morton is likely to finish 100 - 150 spots higher.

Rogers is the first top 50 wrestler to come off of my list.

Woof - On your master list, you have Jackie Sato as tied at #414, but she is actually #413. She had an average higher vote. The mix up may come from the HM list where Grimmas has her in a separate post, but labeled as 414. All other numbers are correct in both lists however.

There is still one wrestler that I can't account for. 2 wrestlers have ranked that were not nominated, but a 3rd is on my list that I'm wondering about. Maybe I will redo to see if I missed something.

Chris Adams was my favourite WCW Thunder worker. His stuff in Texas, well... He sure was holding on things together in a rather mediocre territory, worked well as a babyface and a heel, but I never felt he was better than *good*. Of course he didn't had the best opposition in the world but still. A better version of Brad Armstrong. Kind of a Ted DiBiase guy to me. The only thing I really didn't see that I wanted to was the USWA Austin feud, which may be his best stuff.

I came on board too late to contribute to GWE but it's been fascinating to follow the countdown. I'm really surprised to see Chris Adams so low. i haven't seen that much of him so far, but what I have seen has been great. I'm looking forward to seeing more of his Texas run.

Lost Anjoh and Invader I in the lunchtime wave and was the low vote on each. I should've done more for you, men.

Chris Adams is an interesting case because he hit some great highs against workers I never had much use for such as Terry Taylor. But then he'd pop up in the British stuff or in Portland and make less of an impression. I'm not down on him so much as I don't really have a coherent view of him

Can justify Nigel at #4 better than Bret at #5 :)

I do think if really value the 2000's indy period as the best wrestling of all time, Nigel is a person that does have a case of the best of that grouping. I didn't rank him generally on the strength that he has a pretty short peak and then is gone, but that 2007 indy run in ROH was pretty amazing and not the dramatic drop off at all in ring that you might imagine coming down from the creative peak of the ROH vs. CZW feud and the Homicide chase to the title.

nice.

I would have Low Ki, Bryan, Punk, Hero, Dragon, Necro and AJ all above him for that period though. Even by that standard it would be difficult to see that.

Yeah personally I have Joe, Hero, Low Ki, Necro, Bryan and Super Dragon ahead. AJ is pretty close but I probably would edge Nigel ahead on just the 2001-2008 length of time. Would be interested for shittylittleboots rationale since he is not anonymous when submitting.
