Strummer
Fans getting mad at the promotion happened all the time in late era .Crockett and early era WCW. They were the minority most likely but they existed as far as back then. Maybe can go back even further And Pete is right during the attitude WWE basically made the company a heel in and of itself that was run by morons
Strummer
Also isn't questioning a television show's writing the same thing as questioning the booking of a wrestling promotion? Fans question the writing of the shows they love all the time. People even criticized Seinfeld after Larry David left because the writing took a bit of a down turn. Doesn't mean they still didn't like the show. Happens all the time with shows like Simpsons and SNL where there are constant writing regime changes
Gutenberger
Booker T dropping a Disco Inferno reference on Talking Smack in 2017... Wow. I find that more irritating than everything else on the show. WWE would kill to have a midcarder as versatile and permaover as Disco today, you prick. Don't get me wrong, I loved Disco. His team with Alex Wright was great, and I used to dance to their intro. Bur I doubt that the main arget group sees it that way.
Alucard
Well I don't know if I would say that Mike and Maria were really good in TNA but they definitely got good heat because they dominated the program for a good year. As just another piece of the cog I can't see them doing much. Especially Mike who is on the same level wrestling wise as a Tye Dillinger I wouldn't say he's that bad. He had some really good matches last year against a solid variety of opponents. I hope they get a decent push here like they did there. SomethingSavage
I didn't catch much of Bennett and Maria's TNA run, but I saw plenty of their stuff from their ROH stint. Bennett seemed to grasp how to be a cocky prick pretty well, and Maria grew into a fantastic heat magnet on the outside. Maria really worked the part, and she never seemed to shy away from taking bumps in all the big blow-off matches. I recall one night when they did a few miscommunication spots with her and the Kingdom, and poor Maria ended up eating like three or four big spears, boots, etc. all in one night. Obviously that wouldn't work on a weekly basis or anything, but after a few years of her generating heat alongside the Kingdom - it felt like a fitting payoff. And, best of all, the crowd was showing ZERO sympathy for her suffering. They were totally eating it up & appreciating the comeuppance. I think comparisons to the Miz and Maryse are going to be hard to avoid at first, but I'm willing to wait & see how they develop as an act. Not a huge fan of the "power of love" shtick at first glance, but it's certainly too soon to tell what they're going to do with it.
Mad Dog
Getting mad at the bookers. I don't see why it's that ridiculous to see that roster of talent and not be pissed off at least a bit that the product is as tedious as it is in a weekly basis. I don't get why more people don't realize that anything remotely interesting from Raw goes up on Youtube and you can just watch the Joe/Lesnar stuff and move on. gordi
Well, at least something good came out of that PPV. Serious question: which huge company treats its customer base with more contempt: WWE or EA sports? Admittedly, I rarely watch WWE these days... but reading about this PPV really made it seem like they are just flat out trolling their fans with so many aspects of their booking and presentation these days. sek69
I'd say EA Sports is at least honest, they pump out sports games year after year and don't really pretend anything else. Which is fine because FIFA and Madden sell bazillions every year so why fix what isn't broken. People were lol'ing at them adding a story mode in next year's Madden but it's not like it's really changing much of the actual game. WWE acts like the fans dictate what they do when all available evidence points otherwise. It would be if EA saw that people really enjoy playing FIFA but decided to put all their effort behind a new cricket game because it's popular in India. Blehschmidt
EA Sports puts out the same product year after year with minor changes and the hardcore fans bitch about how nothing ever changes then buy it anyway. Considering that EA Sports and WWE can be interchanged in that paragraph seemlessly, I think that question is more spot on than intended. and Thank You for getting rid of Stro, I've been hoping for that for months!! Mrzfn
and Thank You for getting rid of Stro, I've been hoping for that for months!! I've got to second this. I don't like to see people banned but at some point, if there's a guy making every conversation unpleasant, you kind of start hoping. As for MITB, the thing that I'm thinking most about is the end of the women's match. Part of me says it should work theoretically. Having a wimpy valet grab an undeserving win for a heel is a classic tactic. But in reality, it does feel like the wrong time to make a move like that. Someone called it tone deaf and that's probably the best way to put it.
Jimmy Redman
It was the wrong move for the wrong time. It was too much. It's one thing for him to interfere - there's a long history of people getting involved in ladder matches, running in to push the ladder over just when someone is about to win. They've even done the spot where a valet climbs the ladder themselves to try to win the case for someone (Maryse for one example). But actually following through with it, and having someone do all the climbing to the top, grab the briefcase, and then just hand it to the person in the match they want to win is too much and makes everyone in the match kind of look like idiots. AND THEN when it is the first ever women's ladder match in WWE company history in the middle of a conscious Women's Revolution push and the finish is a man going up to get the case because all the women are dead...it's not a good look. I get the argument that there's heel heat in the idea of a man ruining a big feminist moment, but I don't think this was the right move, or the right match to try it with. We've been waiting a very long time for something like a women's ladder match. We finally have one, and they have a man win it. And now all anyone is going to talk about is the fact that WWE had a man win the first women's MITB. Like you've all said it's just tone deaf. And going forward until people's memories fade and WWE writes the history, we're going to look back on the first women's ladder match and go "yes, BUT..." I would have been fine with Ellsworth interfering. With him pushing a ladder over at a crucial moment. At taking someone out on the floor. Even him picking Carmella up and pushing her up the ladder. There are ways for him to interfere and give her a cheap win without giving the impression that a man had to go up and get the briefcase because the women couldn't. It just hit the entirely wrong note. Plus, it was worse by the end of the show because as it turned out it was only the first of many terrible or frustrating finishes on the show. Of course we can't always get what we want, but shows like this where every match has some kind of shitty deflating finish just beat you down. I want to enjoy watching PPVs, not regret that I ever bothered.
Matt D
I think, in general, there are times to get heat and to ramp up the heat, and then there are times to give the babyface a win, and figuring out when to do one and when to do the other is pretty much the most important aspect of wrestling booking and something that WWE gets right about once every ten years.
Loss
If all the heat was going to Carmela and Ellsworth instead of Creative, I'd love it. I still sort of like it, if only because cliffhanger controversial finishes that set up a next thing happening are so rare.

I still sort of like it, if only because cliffhanger controversial finishes that set up a next thing happening are so rare. That was my thing I mentioned on twitter (maybe here, don't remember), though I think it should be primarily on Carmella. All they would have had to do was have Carmella be the center of the whole thing, have her scream for Ellsworth to get her the case. If she really laid on that annoying scream and he seemed scared/overwhelmed while doing it... I would have been all for this because the entire decision would have been hers. Well isn't that what is going to happen next week with the Smackdown MITB match? I mean I doubt they are changing the winner. so in order for Carmella to win it and get even more heat she is going to have to do something more controversial with Ellsworth. Then it is more heat on them and you can't blame creative
El-P
I'm glad I avoided spoilers. So I could watch that obscenity of WCW like booking in "real time". So. First ever Women's Money in the Bank match yaddi yaddi yadda. I can't stand MITB. Anyway, this is obviously put first because the girls won't take the sick bumps men will so it can't be a stunt show. Which actually made the match, although unspectacular despite being way choreographed, quite solid in term of a match that girls are trying to win as opposed to do stupid shit. Tamina & Natalya were ok. Enjoyed Becky & Charlotte. Carmella, as useless as she is, was kinda protected by the gimmick. And of course, *that* ending. Stupid as fuck. Insulting actually. And no matter how some want to twist it as good booking, refreshing and shit, a man won the first women's ladder match. And the worst worker of the bunch got that damn briefcase. She could have easily won after Ellsworth pushed Charlotte off the ladder or something. And still, he's a midcard comedy troll, not Bobby Heenan or something. So there. Tag match was easily the high point of the show. Usos are like the dullest HeadShrinkers ever as heels, but still good workers. New Day's act I can't stand, but the work is good. Never gets tired of Biggie's power spots. The Money Inc. finish though, was terrible. Especially after the first match. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by Lana. She's already better than Carmella. Ok, everyone is, but still. And she's got shitload of character. And she's always talking, like a Russian escort overloaded with Redbull. No, seriously, she's working like Iron Mike Sharpe. Gotta love that. I thought this was a solid match, enjoyed it way more than I probably should. Carmella's trolling was at least a nice touch. Gotta say something for WWE's makeup department again. They make all the women look older than they are. And, manlier.... Really, Kanellis looked better in ROH and TNA, for instance. That gimmick... well... a mix between the Body Donnas & Dean Douglas. It already has the annoying WWE's touch that was absent of her work this last few years. We'll see but yeah, Miz & Maryse are already doing the overbearing couple bit, and doing it very well. Talking about the makeup department again, they should really work on hiding Jinder's disgusting back acne. It's repulsive. Wellness what ? Ok, more of the same as last time, Orton being a complete bore and dropping guys on their head. Same finish. Why the fuck am I wasting my time ? Ascension on PPV. Fashion Police is funny to some people. Sorry, I like my comedy to be actually funny. Why is this on "PPV" ? Hey, Nak gets screwed by Corbin. Twice. Clusterfuck, a bunch of stunts. I have no time for this shit, especially considering the end result. Corbin has zero charisma, has moderate abilities (mediocre at very best) but he's TALL. And no, it's not "good heat", the whole let's screw Nak stuff, because no one hates Corbin for it. This time has passed. When you pay to sing along Nak's entrance and see him hopefully win and you get a big log take that away because he's TALL, you don't get pissed at the big log. You just get pissed at the company for not "putting smile on your face". Because that's supposed to be their line of work now, isn't it ? Anyway, piss poor booking up and down the card and the sole really good match had a shit finish. Fuck this show. Lana was my favourite part. Yeah, there I said it. C.S.
Lana was my favourite part. Yeah, there I said it. Don't know if I'd call her my favorite part, but she was a lot better than I expected - and a lot better than most people are giving her credit for. Because she's not Mrs. Wrestling II, everyone wants to shit all over her. Give me an entertaining character who can do the basics well and I'll prefer that to an indy rasslin' ROH flippity floppity ...diver every time.
