SomethingSavage Posted January 15, 2018 Report Posted January 15, 2018 You're overlooking some key elements regarding Rollins and Van Dam anyhow. RVD came into a shark tank - at a time when guys like Austin, Hunter, and others were really paranoid and clinging to keep their top spots. Rollins was basically brought in from day one to be anointed. He was groomed as the guy in FCW, then the NXT reboot, and later the main roster. Two totally different sets of circumstances. Quote
Zoo Enthusiast Posted January 15, 2018 Report Posted January 15, 2018 Plus Rollins was friendly with a ton of these guys before he entered the locker room, too. Quote
Loss Posted January 15, 2018 Report Posted January 15, 2018 I thought Rollins almost got fired and wasn't really liked by management in FCW/NXT because he was so vocal about what he didn't like. Then he came in and was pushed as the clear #3 guy in The Shield. Things didn't really start looking up for him until he turned and broke up the group, did they? Or am I missing something? Quote
Strummer Posted January 15, 2018 Report Posted January 15, 2018 yeah it was reported that Dusty was not a fan of his in FCW. And he was pushed as the third most important part of the Shield act until he turned. He had the "mechanic" label attached to him which is why everyone was shocked that he was the one that turned. sounds like it could have been battle in the HHH v Dunn/Vince war Quote
Zoo Enthusiast Posted January 16, 2018 Report Posted January 16, 2018 I moreso meant among the other wrestlers. It wasn’t like RVD or Jericho coming in and immediately getting buried by HHH or Waltman as not being able to work. Quote
Kadaveri Posted January 16, 2018 Report Posted January 16, 2018 Discussion of betting odds: Daniel Bryan's odds to win have dropped from 80/1 to 9/1, which is pretty damn strange. Now I very much doubt he's actually winning the Rumble, but I wonder if there's inside talk of him being cleared and this is a result of Chinese Whispers. Quote
Migs Posted January 16, 2018 Report Posted January 16, 2018 The Bella Twins seem like likely surprise entrants in the women's rumble based on the comeback talk on Total Divas. Quote

SirEdger Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Sloppy Sasha? I guess this isn't the first time she's injured someone then? Sasha's been involved in 3 injuries in her 5 1/2 years in WWE. There's no real basis for her getting a reputation other than women's wrestling fandom tend to start a witch hunt after every injury. Like Nia Jax got a ridiculous amount of social media hate when Bayley got injured last summer which you rarely see when a man gets injured. Didn't Jack Swagger get heat because he injured Dolph Ziggler & Bad News Barrett in a not-so-long period of time. Swagger gave Ziggler a concussion during his 2nd reign as World Heavyweight Champion and I think that he dislocated Barrett's shoulder throwing him into a barricade - and that also pretty much ended Barrett's push. Why haven't we seen that much uproar about Swagger that we're seeing for Sasha Banks over Paige's obvious career-ending injury? Quote
iamthedoctor Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Would this Roman Reigns Implicated In Steroid Distribution Ring By Dealer story put a halt on his push? Quote

He arguably should've won it in September/October 2001 if they were ever going to go with him - guy was unbelievably hot and over when he first came in. Most of his best WWE matches came during those initial months as well. Quote

Would be veeeeeeery interesting if this turns out to be true. Unless he's put with Shane Quote
Loss Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Regarding the topic being discussed in spoiler tags, let's keep it in spoiler tags if we can. However, people are human and things could happen, so anyone who doesn't want to see what's being talked about might want to just avoid this thread until after the show. Quote
Matt D Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 In that case, If he's at all cleared, I think they should just go with him. Reigns is what he is at this point. They spent, what, six months of last year with Jinder on top on Smackdown? In an environment like that, what's the harm of going with Bryan, even if he burns out in a month? There IS a turnover in fanbase though, and as such I wouldn't be surprised if people might be more into Styles in the medium term than Bryan. It could backfire. Quote
El-P Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 CM Punk is really coming back ? Or those spoiler tags are just not working right ? Quote
KawadaSmile Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Would this Roman Reigns Implicated In Steroid Distribution Ring By Dealer story put a halt on his push? Did Edge and Orton get fucked over after the Signature Pharmacy scandal? Lesnar tested positive while under contract. He's been champion for almost a year. Hogan is one of their biggest names ever. In other words: no. Quote

sek69 Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 I'm starting to think there may be smoke to the fire here re: Bryan. It just seems like it would be a waste of time and effort spending all this energy in what looks like building him vs Shane to some degree without there being a payoff. Plus this is the same company that wouldn't allow anyone over 55 to do anything physical after the Lawler stuff, but Bryan could be special ref and take comedy bumps. I'm thinking he might have signed waivers or whatever they would need legally to calm their fears of a lawsuit which is what all of this was really about. Quote
NintendoLogic Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 I'm a bit puzzled by all the love Nakamura/Ibushi at WK got. Not that it isn't an awesome match, but I don't see what made it the runaway MOTY. I thought their match at the 2013 G1 was better. Quote
Cap Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Regarding all that spoiler stuff Man... I can't express how excited at the posibility I am. I feel like he would be the ultimate RR surprise because they wouldn't have to hide him. He has ever reason to be there. If they had Bryan back I would imagine he would trump any other plan they might have (save maybe Roman over Brock, but if Roman is in hot water...). Bryan vs Styles would be lights out as a draw and as a match. I'd still love to see Bryan vs Brock, but that seems like a long shot. My only real hope is that he doesn't get stuck with Shane or in some convoluted multi-person, though those are probably the most likely options. If Bryan is going to storm back into our lives he needs to be given the stage with someone he can really shine with. Quote
Zoo Enthusiast Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Man I'm so tempted to hit those spoiler tags. Quote
Mad Dog Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Ignoring the spoilers. I think if they were smart they would take a risk and have Rusev win it. Quote
Grimmas Posted January 18, 2018 Report Posted January 18, 2018 Rhonda debuts, Charlotte throws here out. Asuka wins the Rumble. The tag matches will be the best two matches on the show. SmackDown person (Nakamura, Orton, or Rusev) win the Rumble. Quote
