Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole
Blehschmidt replied to KawadaSmile's topic in Pro Wrestling
I want to say Unbelievable, but unfortunately it isn't. I work as a switchboard operator for the largest hospital in my state, and the sheer amount of people that are still shitty with me every single day over the Covid regulations that have been in place for a year now is just ridiculous. They just can't wrap their minds around why we don't want them bringing the whole extended family to visit their hypochondriac cousin who is here for the 3rd time this month. They still bitch that they have to wear masks, they still call it the Plandemic. But I live in a state that constantly comes in last, or 2nd to last in things like Education, Economy, and Healthcare. The educated people are leaving in droves. There is an opioid epidemic, the suicide rate is skyrocketing. A good portion of the state still clings to coal mining as the future of our economy as though coal is somehow going to become a renewable resource. I'll give you one guess a two who overwhelmingly won the state in the last two elections. So none of it comes as a surprise. To tie this back to Aries, and Ryback, and these fucking idiots. That's another part of the problem right there. I come from this redneck, white trash state, and these people already believe this stupid nonsense, and then when they see the "wrasslers" that they watch on the TV saying the same things, it just makes them believe it even more. So Fuck 'Em even more for using their platform and whatever modicum of fame they might still have to spread this insanity. -
Austin Aries: The Adventures of an Arrogant Asshole

The problem is that helping others involves not thinking about yourself for more than thirty seconds, and most people are utterly incapable of that. A few years back my wife developed an immuno disorder, spent a week in the hospital, nearly died, and was then on immunosuppresants for the next two years to get into remission. Immune system totally shut down, high doses of steroids, hair falling out, constant fatigue and sickness, and still we had to constantly remind people, friends, family, etc.... if your sick, if you have even the fucking sniffles, you could kill her. That was with a loved one. So expecting these anti-masker, anti-vaxxer douchebags to give even the slightest shit about the rest of the population, sadly will never happen, until members of their own family start dropping dead from it, and maybe not even then. -
The Thread Killer Talks Too Much: The Recaps
Blehschmidt replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Pro Wrestling
That absolutely does not come off as looking for sympathy or attention at all. You seem like a good dude Thread Killer, and I'm sorry to hear that life is kicking your ass. If you ever do come back to this, this forum will be the better for it. Until then, I will continue to enjoy your fantasy booking and hope for the best for you Brother! -
That sucks too, El Rey was awesome. But when you are only available on 1 in every 20 cable systems, and the most expensive tier of DirectTV..... viewers are going to be hard to come by.

I was a big Aries fan during the Generation Next days into his first RoH Title reign. He lost me after the Austin Starr run in TNA and the RoH return with the"Greatest Man That Ever Lived" stuff. Ki was fun in the early days of RoH, but his shtick wore off fairly quckly. -

Ivelisse doesn't tweet crazy conspiracy shit or try to push insane opinions on people. Yeah, she most likely has a bad attitude that costs her jobs everywhere she goes, but that doesn't put her in the same category as the rest of those fucktwits. -
Can we get another Bad Bunny match tomorrow instead of Wyatt/Orton? Please?
-
I really hope they have Pac and Fenix take the tag titles next week, and then have Page take the World Title since they seem to be pushing that #1 contender thing with him. Then they can have Omega and the Bucks do their Lovers Quarrel angle without holding up all the titles. I really hope they get Moxley and Kingston away from this shit ASAP. The Acclaimed are really terrible. Very much enjoyed the Darby/Drake match, and Drake actually strikes me as a guy they could do something with since he looks totally different from everyone else in an old school Dick Murdoch kinda way and seems to be a decent enough hand. The Inner Circle/Pinnacle/Tyson stuff was fun, and the War Games match should be good. If they could have Tyson handcuffed to Tully or something, that could make for some fun TV.

They really made sure to get the WWE Speak into the show this year. I think every single person (except Molly Holly) mentioned the WWE Universe in their speech at least once, and the term "Sports Entertainment Industry" may be my least favorite thing ever. I also had to laugh at Hogan saying it was the "WWE fans" that made the nWo what it was. This company never fails to amaze with it's bullshit.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
Blehschmidt replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
It may now be too late for the 10% off, but he seems to be the only person who sells the book. I'd shoot him an e-mail and see if he sold out. -
Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations

Just saw on Twitter that today only Rock Rims is offering 10% off his excellent "Rotten" Ron Starr book which I finished last week and really enjoyed. Supposedly only 6 copies left. Says to email him at [email protected] -
Well, that's unfortunate. Apparently people tuned in to see if Christian still had it, and well, quite frankly I thought he looked sloppy and the match went way too long, and then they turned the show off, which only got better after that match. I love AEW, and I want nothing more than for them to be a viable alternative to the absolute garbage that WWE has become, but unless live crowds returning increases interest in the product, I just can't put my finger on what they can do to make that happen. Wrestling isn't "cool" anymore (not that it really ever was, but that mid to late 90's surge had some steam) and while I have no issue with the Rhodes Reality Show, I can't think that's gonna do it. Maybe the NXT move will help, if the people watching it who aren't the WWE Elitist Mouth Breathers give it a shot.

Yours Truly, The Old, Rich White Guy
-
There has to be some other Hall of Famer or guy who was some semblance of a name 15 to 20 years ago being held together by paper clips and bubble gum that they can trot out to win the belt from Roman instead of trying something new. Maybe Booker T? What's Matt Morgan doing these days? Is Bull Buchannon available?

This made me laugh, but then I heard Vince in my head going "That's a great idea Pal!"

Now you listen here @El-P, attacking the high art of pro wrestling story telling is one thing, but attacking the stories in Porn is the last straw! If I can't truly believe that she is a realtor and the only way to get those 5 guys to buy the house..... You know what, Nevermind. You've ruined it.

She's okay in the ring, but it feels like the mystique of the character is already dead after losing so decisively to Shida.

I don't understand the dislike for Best Friends. Both guys are perfectly serviceable in the ring, even if they aren't setting the world on fire. Chuck Taylor isn't doing the invisible hand grenades or any of that kind of stuff. When they had fans, the whole "Big Hug after clearing the ring" spot seemed to get a pop every week. I'm not calling for a lengthy title run or anything, but as a midcard tag team to pick up wins on Dark, and then put over the dastardly heels on Dynamite, I certainly think you could do a whole lot worse.

Going by this List I would cut: Alan Angels, Anthony Bowens, The Gunn Club, Colt Cabana, Joey Janela, Luther, Marko Stunt, Matt Sydal, Max Caster, Michael Nakazawa, Serpentico, Shawn Dean, Shawn Spears I know that Cabana, Sydal, and Janela have something of a "name value" to some people, but they are going absolutely no where. Shawn Spears is only worth keeping on the roster if they think they are going to get Peyton Royce, otherwise I have no idea what value he adds. I don't see what they see in The Acclaimed. It seems like Brandon Cutler, Kazarian, Daniels, Peter Avalon, and QT Marshall are probably doing backstage stuff as well as being lower carders, but they could certainly stand to go as well. Kip Sabian is only worth having as a manager for Penelope Ford. Private Party, Top Flight, Lee Johnson, Hobbs, and Preston Vance seem like guys worth slow building as they gain experience. On the women's roster, I think Big Swole, Mel, Abadon, and Leva Bates can safely be cut. As for folks I would look to hire.... I think Alex Gracia, Jazmin Allure, and Tesha Price who they've had on Dark would be worth investing in long term to train with Dustin. If they can get Andrade and Thea, they definitely should. When it comes to WWE cast offs, they need to be careful not to go crazy, but guys like Ricochet, Aleister Black, and the like who have been criminally underused and fit their style would be good choices. As for folks from the indies and elsewhere, Jeff Cobb, Chris Hero, Bandido, Deonna Purrazzo, Su Yung, and Zack Sabre would be a few I'd look into.

WWE TV 03/15 - 03/21 Bayern Munchen to repeat as UCL champions
Blehschmidt replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
I am really curious what is happening with Keith Lee. He tweeted this today.... and for what it's worth, PWInsider reports that he isn't being factored into any future WWE plans. At his age, I really hope he doesn't rot, doing nothing under WWE contract for an extended amount of time. Not that I don't want him to make that money, but God Damn, he has so much talent. -
Super disappointed in Elevation. The last thing we needed was another two hour show filled with squash matches. Dark has been way too long since the pandemic started, and as was stated above, this is pretty much just more Dark (with a fancy main event) Tony and Show were fine, they'll gel more as time goes on. But, I was already picking and choosing matches on Dark with just the people I really like. Guess I will be doing the same here.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Did you ever wonder if maybe Undertaker's early hats were just leftover Billy Jack Haynes hats with the green band removed?
