Timbo Slice Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Not surprised Yoshida is this high because while some joshi fans aren't all into her, the ones that are into her are into her BIG. She another close leave off my list.
soup23 Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Mocha gives the greatest James Bond henchman villain punkdown in that GIF.
Loss Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Yoshida making the top 200 considering that her most acclaimed stuff happened after people stopped paying so much attention and that Joshi is out of style among most voters is a pretty great accomplishment. I'm proud of that ranking for her.
Cap Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I never thought about how much Mocho Cota looked like Peter Dinklage until i saw that picture just now.
JerryvonKramer Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 189 - Mocho Cota   188 - Ivan Koloff   6th and 7th gone.  A cold day. A sad day.
Danish Dynamite Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Mocha gives the greatest James Bond henchman villain punkdown in that GIF. Ha! Yes! Roger Moore era Bond for sure. Â He's one I regret not seeing more of. He barely missed out for me and I like the 7-8 matches I've seen. Came to him a little too late :-(
JerryvonKramer Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I've always said that Cota looks like The Master from 70s Doctor Who. Â Â Â Though I think that pic of him Grimmas posted is from 94ish, so that's closer to the Moore-era Bond villain.
Loss Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 That picture is about as silly as Kazuo Yamazaki gets.
MasterJonBurr Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Wanted to rank Mocho Cota but have only seen 3 matches. What a character, though. Â I don't get the Orton-as-poster-boy-for-homogeneity trope. To me, he's one of the only truly charismatic wrestlers in the wwe. He is in character 100% of the time. He's their best house show wrestler by far and, to some extent, their best live wrestler. Has he been booked into oblivion and overexposed? Sure. But he's a tremendous wrestler and definitely has his own character and style. Also think he could get over anywhere. Â I will now prepare myself to be excoriated. Â Yours, JHHBjr
El-P Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Yoshida doesn't make the top 100 ? Fuck all of you people. Sincerely. Â Glad to be the high vote, but the drop since 2006 is ridiculous. Wait, Lex Luger, Scott Hall, Sting, HHH and co haven't dropped yet, but freaking Mariko Yoshida is down ? This list sucks already. Oh, BTW, I had her above Flair because she was much smarter than him, among other things. Â Oh, and why not Kazuo Yamazaki while we're at it. My #39. Â Way too many mediocre US workers haven't been sent to the woodpile yet.
TravJ1979 Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 My guys are dropping steadily now. Still not the high vote on anyone and only the low vote on my # 100 (Dump)
Graham Crackers Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Emilio was one of mine but but someone I ranked very high. Â I didn't vote for MS-1. I do like him and he probably would have made a top 200 but outside of a monstrous performance in the Sangre Chicana match he strikes me more as someone very good who wrestled a lot of great wrestlers.
GOTNW Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Boy am I not going to like the top 100. Yamazaki and a couple of the more esteemed luchadors have fallen which means virtually everyone in my top half is in danger now. Hope Pirata Morgan finishes above Okada.
El-P Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I had Yoshida at #45, don't blame me  Of course the 17 who voted for her, at any rank, are absolved from my wrath. Mariko is my favourite wrestler ever.
Loss Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I'm not at all disappointed in Yoshida's rating. Sure, I think she should be higher, but considering the current landscape, it's a very good rating.
Dylan Waco Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Ogawa was technically the last guy on my ballot though he wasn't my 100.
GOTNW Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 That picture is about as silly as Kazuo Yamazaki gets. As the three people that follow the stuff I post on social media can testify, that isn't true. They did an arm wrestling tournament where the contestants were pro wrestling and it was the best thing I had ever seen and Yamazaki somehow managed to be the silliest person on a show that included Yoji Anjoh and Bob Sapp. there's also his reaction when he found out he was gonna face someone really good at the armwres things with big hands:
Death From Above Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Yoshida was tough to figure out where to rank for me exactly, because there are other Joshi stars that had longer peaks (and I'm not big at all on her early work), but I never really considered not having her in there. Â Yamazaki might be the best really bland wrestler, if that makes any sense.
TravJ1979 Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Listening to Cornette's Podcast and hearing about Lance Storm having an opinion on Brian's comments about Jericho ... got me to thinking about the DVDVR 500. So ... someone should scoop Lance to this list. He's not even nominated so of course his feelings will be hurt.
El-P Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Probably. Still, it says a lot about the current landscape that so much crappy guys are still to come while all the luchadors and strong joshi candidates and shoot-style guys are dropping like flies. It's like we were more open minded to different stuff in 2006, while people have got back to the good ol' US of A rassling this time around. Yep, not feeling that top 150 very much.
